Who is Les Schmidt?

Les is not a psychiatrist, psychologist, psycho-therapist, cognitive therapist, registered counsellor, doctor or nurse but has worked with and has personal experience with these people as part of his support group.

 

Les has taught high school for 34 years for the Wellington Catholic District School Board. His name "Mr. Energy" was created by his students based on his teaching style and class interaction. In this time he has acted as the Board Health Consultant, Elementary School Vice-Principal, Business Teacher and Guidance Counsellor.

Les was the former recipient of Teacher of the Year Honour for Creating Active Healthy Living Curriculum Board Wide.

Mr. Energy bases his presentation on major life coach authors such as: Steven Covey (Seven Habits of Highly Effective People), Deepak Chopra (Ageless Body, Timeless Mind), Wayne Dyer (You'll See It When you Believe It).

 

Les lives in Guelph with his  Life Partner Francie and his two children Jason and Taylor.

Les has a BSc. in Kinesiology and a Masters in Education. He is a Master Trainer from the Centre for High Performance using the Canadian Stress Mapping Program.

 

Les was an instructor at York University for the Physical Education Specialist Program. He also taught Level One and Two National Coaching Certification Programs at the University of Guelph.

Despite his mental health challenge, Les successfully completed the Ottawa Marathon.

Les has coached for over 35 years in High School Sports and Community All-Star Teams in the area of Football, Rugby, Soccer, Basketball and Track and Field with three of his athlete's going on to play Professional Football.
 


Les was seconded by the Corporation of the City of Guelph for six months from the Wellington Catholic District School Board to provide workshop strategy sessions for all 800 employees on the topic of:

Life/Stress Management  |  E.Q. Emotional Wellness  |  Communication Skills  |  Personal Wellness Plans

Les custom designs his presentations /workshops based on feedback from your PEOPLE, Your Work Culture, Your Work Climate! His philosophy " Keepin' it Real" is the basis for telling his Life Journey with Mental Health in order to connect with what's going on in your organization.
